Safety & Privacy

Keeping users safe is our highest priority

AURA is an app to give compliments to our friends and improve our self-esteem. Here is how we ensure the app is a safe and private experience for you.

How to stay safe on AURA

Only join schools that you currently attend

Schools are provided to help friends find each other. When you join a school that isn't yours, people who don't know you can request to be friends with you. Never join a school that you don't attend.

Only send or accept friend requests from people who you know in real life

AURA is an app to compliment friends that you know. Adding strangers will allow people who don't know you to vote on you.

Do not share phone numbers, devices, or codes with friends

Sharing phones or your phone number can cause your account to be compromised or your user data to be corrupted.

Disable Location Access after signing up

AURA does not need your location after signing up. We only use it to find nearby schools to join. Disabling it will not impact your experience. To disable, open the Settings app › select AURA › Set Location to Never.

Set Your Privacy Preferences

Your friends can see your Top STARS when visiting your profile. If you are not comfortable with this, you can hide them by going to edit profilemanage account › Hide Top STARS.

How to keep friends safe

Report users who are breaking the rules

If you see a user breaking the rules, open the user's profile › tap in the left corner › select report user. Provide as much information as you can in the input box.

Do not sign up under someone else's name

AURA works best when the names you see in polls are the people who they say they are. If you sign up with a fake name, it hurts our community.

Do not use inappropriate profile photos

Your profile photo should represent you. While it doesn't need to be a photo of you, you should never provide a photo that contains graphic or hateful images.

How to reach us

We are always trying to make AURA better. If you have any feedback or want to report a negative experience, Contact AURA App.

Privacy Policy

AURA operates as a mobile application designed to enhance interactions among friends. Users engage in polls regarding their friends, with notifications sent when friends are selected in a poll. Given our focus on a younger audience, we prioritize safety and user privacy. Our data collection is streamlined to the essential requirements for app functionality and friend connectivity. Below, we detail the data we collect, its usage, sharing practices, and your associated rights.

Data Collection And Usage

Account Information

Upon registration with AURA, users provide their phone number, name, school, grade level, gender, username, and profile photo. This data facilitates user identification and simplifies friend discovery on the platform. Optionally providing your school information places you in the app's classmate section, enabling classmates to request friendships.

Contact Information

During AURA account creation, users may opt to grant access to their address book for friend discovery. Contact data is utilized to identify potential connections, such as mutual acquaintances, without sending invitations. In polls, contacts may be suggested as options if the user lacks sufficient friends on the app. No invitations are sent to contacts without explicit consent, ensuring user control over messages sent to friends.

Location Information

Pre-account creation, users can provide approximate location data to AURA. This data aids in suggesting nearby schools and determining app availability in specific regions. User location data remains unlinked to personal identity and isn't stored post-account creation.

Device and App Activity Data

AURA automatically collects device information (e.g., device type, operating system) and app interaction data (e.g., actions taken, session duration) to enhance app performance, develop features, and ensure system security.

Data Sharing Practices

AURA does not sell, rent, license, or lease user data to third parties. However, data may be shared with:

Data Retention

User data is retained as long as necessary for the stated purposes and legal obligations.

User Rights

Users are entitled to:

These rights can be exercised through the app's "Get Help" feature, with identity verification required. Agents may act on behalf of users with proper authorization.

Children's Privacy

AURA is not intended for children under 13, and any inadvertent data collection from such individuals will be promptly deleted upon discovery.

Policy Updates

This policy may be revised to reflect business changes and legal requirements. Users will be notified of significant changes through the app.
